BugBlock aftercare tips

Separate interior and exterior BugBlock aftercare: returning home, drying times, cleaning treated areas, spider webs and what to do if insects concern you.

These tips help you return safely after your BugBlock treatment and keep the residual treatment on the surfaces where it is intended to work.

Read the section for your booking. If we treated both inside and outside, both sections apply.

Follow the return time our technician gives you. For our usual interior treatment, people and pets stay outside during the work and for approximately one hour afterwards, and until treated surfaces are completely dry. If anything is still damp, wait longer.

For exterior treatment, keep people and pets clear of the treatment area while we work and until surfaces are completely dry.

After an interior treatment

Returning and ventilating

Do not re-enter before the advised time. Ventilate on your return as directed by our technician. If you are unsure whether it is time to return, call us first.

Follow the specific advice given for fish tanks, birds and other sensitive animals before uncovering tanks, restarting pumps or bringing animals back.

Food areas and personal items

Before using the kitchen, clean food-preparation surfaces and any exposed food-contact items with clean drinking water as directed. Protecting the treatment does not replace normal food hygiene.

If food, toys, pet bowls or another item was accidentally left out in a treated area, ask us what to do before using it.

Cleaning around treated surfaces

Keep normal household hygiene routines, but ask before wet-washing, scrubbing or steam-cleaning treated edges, skirtings and other application areas. Removing the residue can reduce the treatment’s effectiveness.

We can tell you which areas were treated so you do not have to guess what to leave alone.

After an exterior treatment

  • Wait until treated surfaces are completely dry before using those areas or returning pet bowls, bedding and toys.
  • Avoid washing or scrubbing treated walls, eaves, window surrounds and other application areas. Arrange future house or window washing with the treatment in mind.
  • If you need to clean something urgently, contact us so we can explain which areas to avoid or how to manage it.

When can I remove remaining spider webs?

Follow the timing our technician gives you. Once advised, use a dry, soft brush without scrubbing the treated surface. Please ask before removing webs if you were not given a timeframe.

What if it rains?

Weather exposure affects exterior treatments. Tell us if rain arrived before the application had dried or if you are concerned about the result. We can consider the timing and the areas treated rather than assuming it needs another application.

Will I still see insects?

You may still notice insects after a treatment. The response depends on the pest, where it is living and whether it contacts the treated areas. An insect sighting on its own does not tell us whether the treatment is working as intended.

If activity concerns you, send us a photo and tell us what you are seeing, where, and when the treatment was completed. Avoid adding another insecticide before speaking with us, as this can interfere with the treatment plan.

Helping the result last

Keep food sealed, manage rubbish and reduce easy access to food and water. Once the treatment is dry and access is permitted, keep vegetation from touching exterior walls where you can safely do so.

Treatment life varies with weather, surface, cleaning and pest pressure. If activity returns, contact us for advice rather than assuming every property needs the same re-treatment date.

Had a wash as well?

Read the exterior cleaning aftercare guide too. After exterior BugBlock has been applied, ask us before washing those treated areas again.

Need a hand?

If something does not look right or you are unsure what to do, please get in touch. Photos and your job address help us give useful advice.
