An orange truck. A small water blaster. A fresh start.

Before exterior cleaning, Pete Corney was a dairy farmer for 26 years and Brya Page worked in branding and marketing.

They had big dreams, but farming was burning them out. Pete worked long hours and Brya was often away travelling for clients. They were exhausted and ready to do things differently.

So they chose to change.

Starting from scratch

After stepping away from farming, they sold what they could and bought a small home for their family.

They started fresh with an orange 1982 Daihatsu truck. It was loud, slow and only four of its five gears worked. The little domestic water blaster felt more like a toy than a tool.

Pete set out with a can-do mentality and a work ethic as strong as his handshake.

With decades of farm-honed integrity, he had a “do it once, do it right” mindset. No cutting corners, just honest, proper work that people would remember for the right reasons.

Do it once. Do it right. Give people a reason to remember you for the right things.

That foundation shaped everything that followed: doing things properly, with care and pride, and going a step beyond what was expected.

Sometimes that meant doing a little more than was quoted, when the job allowed. Sometimes it was the extra effort put into keeping a customer informed.

Brya designed the first logo and website, drawing on her marketing experience and finding creative ways to spread the word on a small budget.

Word spread, and Blast Away Guys began to make a name for itself.

The job that changed everything

Early on, Blast Away Guys offered discounted house washes through GrabOne. One customer loved the result so much that she immediately asked Pete to clean her rental property too.

She also managed a portfolio of commercial properties. That first house wash opened the door to a longstanding relationship looking after properties across Northland.

Around the same time, Brya spotted an Auckland crew washing buildings in Whangārei. She picked up the phone and offered Blast Away Guys’ help as a Northland partner.

That conversation grew into another lasting partnership.

Every job matters. You never know where doing a good job and looking after someone will lead.

Building a business around good people

From day one, Brya and Pete believed culture mattered as much as results. They wanted a workplace where people felt good about coming to work, and good about the people they worked with.

When people love what they do and who they do it with, it shows in the results. Happy teams deliver better work, and customers feel the difference.

That’s what good culture really comes down to:

Doing what’s right, even when no one’s watching. Because you’ll never go wrong by doing the right thing.

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast” became a way of thinking about the business. The right people, doing the right things, make the plan mean something.

See what that care means for customers, or meet the team.

Care is the most disruptive thing you can do

Over the years, Brya and Pete have learned that the real difference isn’t price or equipment. It’s care.

Care in how customers are treated. Care in how the team is trained and supported. Care in the way a property is left better than it was found.

It’s taking the time to answer a question properly, listening when someone is worried about a plant or a surface, and putting things right if something isn’t as it should be.

Care feels different. Customers can feel it, and it’s what keeps them coming back.

That trust has been earned job by job, through the work itself and the way people are looked after.

Where we are today

Things we believe to be true

Clean is something you see. It’s also something you feel.

One customer stood in his driveway, shaking his head in disbelief. He had thought his concrete was beige. After the clean, he realised it was white.

Others tell us their home looks freshly painted. They hadn’t realised how much the gradual build-up had changed it.

People aren’t just buying a house wash. They’re buying how it feels when everything is clean and radiant.

The pride of a home or building that shines. The motivation to tackle another job. The relief of knowing it has been properly taken care of.

That’s the value we want to deliver. And we stand behind it with our 100% Love Clean Guarantee: if you’re not completely satisfied, let us know and we’ll come back to sort it. If you’re still not happy, you don’t pay.

Why this story matters

Brya and Pete didn’t buy their way into the market. They earned customers’ trust, job by job.

Showing up when promised. Doing the work properly. Caring about the details, the result and the person waiting to see it.

They haven’t got everything right every time. They’ve made mistakes, learned from them and kept building a business they’re proud of.

Make property radiant. Make people happy.

If you’re looking for an exterior clean done with heart, pride and care, we’d love to help.
