When he heads out properly, it’s never just for an hour or two. He’s out for six to eight hours, and he almost always comes back with plenty to share. His smoked fish is up there with the best.

For Josh, fishing isn’t just about catching kai. It’s about teaching the next generation too. He started a fishing school for kids, showing them how to fish safely and responsibly.

From reading tide charts to spotting currents and respecting the marine environment, he helps kids build confidence and stay safe on the water.

Josh has a real soft spot for elderly people. He grows a huge veggie garden at home (another passion) and shares fresh produce with his neighbours, especially the older ones who don't have a lot of money.

When the work’s done, Josh enjoys nothing more than time at home with his partner and their kids. He’s a devoted dad to his young daughter, Ocean. In fact, Josh took five years off work to be a stay-at-home dad for the first five years of her life.
